Is It Time for Fresh Hair?
If you’re wearing Natural Beaded Row Extensions, there comes a point when the hair simply needs to be replaced—no matter how well you care for it. Not sure if you’re there yet? Here are the signs to look for:
✔ Increased Dryness or Tangling
Even high-quality extension hair has a lifespan. After about 6–9 months (sometimes up to a year with exceptional care), it can start feeling drier, tangling more easily, or losing that silky softness.
✔ Split Ends or Frayed Ends
If the ends look rough, split, or overly frizzy—even after trims—it’s usually a signal that the hair has run its course.
✔ Dullness or Lack of Shine
Over time, extension hair can lose its natural luster, no matter how faithful you are with deep-conditioning treatments.
✔ Styles Aren’t Holding
When curls fall flat quickly or the hair won’t keep its shape, it’s often a sign the integrity of the hair is breaking down.
✔ You’ve Had the Hair 9–12 Months
Most extension hair needs replacing by this point. Some clients get closer to a year with excellent home care and minimal heat, but 6–9 months is the standard recommendation from most NBR stylists.
