How To Make Your Wash LAST

For those of us with extensions (and even those without), I think we can all agree that washing our hair is a CHORE. It involves what feels like hours in the bathroom washing, brushing, sweating, taking breaks, arm cramps, etc. It’s a lot of work.

So how can we prolong our last shampoo and blowout as long as possible?

I have some tips that may help extend the days between your washes.

Rule number 1: Don’t touch your hair!! The more you run your hands through your hair the more oil and dirt you transfer making your hair look greasy.

PRODUCTS:
Surprise surprise, dry shampoo! The ones we are currently loving:
-IGK Jet Lag
-Living Proof Perfect Hair Day
-Oribe Gold Lust

Another key thing: Oil for the ENDS of your hair to keep them hydrated and looking healthy. Think lotion for your body, but it’s like lotion for your hair. It helps keep the ends of you locks moisturized especially when using products that can sometimes feel drying as they build up, like dry shampoo.

HAIR STYLES:
-Of course it makes sense to wear your hair down after you spent all that time washing and styling it. I can usually wear mine down for about 2-3 days before I feel like I need to change it up…. Or just to hide the fact that it has literally been 3 days since I washed my hair.

-Anytime after day 3 I’ll wear it up. Think high pony, braid, fishtail, top knot and then add a cute scarf or scrunchie. To be honest, grossly enough hair works the best to wear up this late in the week because of the oils in your hair. I know, ew, but take advantage if it’s going to be there lol

ACCESSORIES:
Distracts and takes attention away from the fact your hair is not freshly washed. Haha, but really.

-CLIPS. I love that clips/barrettes are back on trend. There’s so many cute options out there right now and by day 2 or 3 I like to pull back one side of my hair with one or two to switch things up a bit.

-We love Free People hair accessories. They have the cutest headbands, scrunchies, scarves, ribbons, etc. Adding an accessory to a simple pony or bun can amp up the look completely.

-Hats. Who does love to accessorize an outfit with a cute hat.  Hats are great for hiding hair that you don’t have time to fix or wash.
