How to Protect Your Hair and Keep it Looking Healthy!
After your hair service is complete and your Natural Beaded Row extensions are installed, knowing how to protect your hair and how to keep your hair healthy is super important. Below are some tips and tricks to add to your haircare routine along with some product recommendations!
Protect Your Hair with Heat Protectant
One of the best ways to protect your hair is with a heat protectant. This is sometimes a step that is overlooked but is so important and only takes a couple seconds to apply! Heat protect will not only protect your hair from damage, but it will help your color last longer too. A top heat protectant in our salon is Oribe Mystify. Mystify is a light spray that will protect your hair up to 450°F while adding some moisture as well.
Add Moisture Products into Your Haircare Routine
Adding moisture into your hair routine is a crucial step in keeping your hair and extensions healthy! From washing, blowdrying, and styling, your hair can become dry and brittle. Two ways we love to add moisture into our hair routines at the salon is by using hair oil on our ends and using a moisturizing masque weekly. Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil and the Oribe Signature Moisture Masque are favorites with our stylists.
The hair oil will nourish your hair and add shine but is lightweight so won’t weigh down your hair! You can even add the hair oil to your ends before blowdrying to reduce dry time. The masque will deeply condition your hair to leave it soft and smooth. We recommend a masque weekly but for clients with thick hair, two uses a week might be more ideal.
Styling Products Matter Too!
Using a low heat setting on styling products is also a tip we recommend to clients wanting to reduce damage to their hair and extensions. A low heat setting will help decrease damage, frizz, and split ends. We recommend keeping heat styling products between 350°F and 360°F. We love the Bio Ionic Curling Iron because the heat setting is customizable so is suitable for all hair types. The Bio Ionic is also crafted with a special technology to lock moisture in your hair while sealing the hair cuticle. Not only will you get the best curls with this curling iron, but you’ll also be protecting your hair!
Hair brushing is something most people probably don’t think much about but is actually an important step in keeping your hair and extensions looking healthy. Brushing you hair and extensions throughout the day can help prevent tangles and matting and can stimulate scalp stimulation for hair growth. One hair brushing tip we recommend is to brush hair from the bottom to top! This is especially important to do when your hair is wet. It’s important to be super gentle when brushing wet hair since this is when it’s the most fragile.
